The 10th Amendment of the United States Constitution states:
"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people".

In Federalist Paper No. 45, James Madison argued the U.S. Constitution creates a federal government of specific listed powers, not one of wide-ranging and far-reaching power that takes over the state’s authority and the rights of the people.
2010 Primary Election Guide:
During this past year, many of our state legislators and others holding statewide offices opposed giving voters the opportunity to amend our state constitution to "preserve the freedom of Kansans to provide for their health care". It is our position that these incumbents failed! We further believe their actions have undermined our state's sovereignty. Our recourse is to now remove them from governing the affairs of our state so they can no longer disregard our liberties provided under the Tenth Amendment of United States Constitution. Based on interaction and involvement with the Kansas Sovereignty Coalition, the following endorsements of statewide offices have been compiled. It is now our turn to take action. Our message on August 3rd will be loud and clear! Our elected officials work for us AND we will hold them accountable.

Todd Tiahrt - U S Senate
At the federal level, Todd Tiahrt is the only U.S. SENATE candidate that came to the sovereignty rallies held last January in Topeka to show support for the Kansas Sovereignty Resolution and the Health Care Freedom Amendment. Todd has been a huge advocate of the effort made to preserve state's rights under the 10th amendment of the U.S. Constitution. We believe Todd Tiahrt is clearly a constitutional conservative and is the best candidate to fight for conservative principles and values on the floor of the senate. Therefore the Kansas Sovereignty Coalition is proud to also endorse Todd Tiahrt for U.S. Senate.

While no position concerning any of the congressional races have been determined, we do want to offer the following perspectives that pertain to state sovereignty issues. Congresswomen Lynn Jenkins stood with us in Topeka at the sovereignty rally last January as did State Senators Dennis Pyle and Tim Huelskamp. We welcomed each of them and appreciated their involvement. State Senators Dennis Pyle and Tim Huelskamp were also strong advocates of the 10th amendment efforts during the legislative session and aggressively worked for the passage of the sovereignty resolution and Health Care Freedom Amendment.

Kris Kobach - Secretary of State:
We do however want to make special note of our endorsement of Kris Kobach for Secretary of State. We fully support Kris and the "Popular Initiative" recently announced that he intends to pursue as Secretary of State. This initiative will provide citizens the ability to directly place an amendment to the state constitution on the ballot for people to support regardless of legislative action. This provision would have allowed supporters the ability to place the Health Care Freedom Amendment on the ballot after legislators denied giving the people the opportunity to cast their vote.
